This section deals with all facets of professional development, job and career. As in all other areas of your life, your personality plays a decisive role in the things you enjoy or don't enjoy. It plays a role in why you are more successful in a particular area with less effort and why some areas might be more difficult for you and require more effort. Your personality affects how you affect others and how you see them. In addition to your personal partnership, your profession should ideally be the second sustaining mainstay in your life. It should make you happy - at least most of the time.

Your work should not be draining, but should instead energize you with a sense of satisfaction that you have accomplished something important, something useful and that you are in the “right place." The happiest people among us are probably those who describe their calling when speaking of their profession. There is no question that you should work in an environment where you are happy, where you are rewarded with appreciation and recognition, and where you get along with your colleagues and superiors. The structure of your work should match your disposition. More chaotic environments are the wrong place for those who prefer structure and order; in strongly team-oriented endeavors, the person who tends to be a loner would probably be in the wrong place.

Most of us must make a decision about our professional career at an age and stage of development when we don't yet know much about our personalities and ourselves. If you chose an education path or career while you were still young, you set a course that is very important for the largest part of your waking life. Frequently many outside influences play an important role: advice you received from your parents, the grades you got at school, what your friends were going to do. You may have been accepted for an internship or at a university that was not your first choice - this list could probably be continued for a while. Only very few young people are truly at peace with themselves and their personalities and choose their careers accordingly.

Should you belong to that group of people who are still stuck in the process of choosing, then this Career Profile will assist you in making a decision as to your professional direction. However, even if you belong to that group of people who are already in the middle of their career, this section will encourage you to face up to your own needs one more time and to ask yourself whether the profession you chose is truly what you want to do for the rest of your (professional) life. If you arrive at the conviction while reading this that you may have made the wrong turn on the way, then that is still no reason to panic! Almost all decisions can be corrected with patience and perseverance. It does not even have to mean choosing a totally different profession or going back to school (even though that may be an alternative - many people do this in the course of their lives.)

It may be sufficient for you to change certain aspects of your profession. You may be happy with a change of department, or working for a company in the same sector but with a different structure. Maybe this section will simply help you to see the subject in general and your personal expectations of your professional career in a different light. On the other hand, this coaching will help you see the continuously occurring conflicts between yourself and certain colleagues (superiors) with different eyes and you may be able to handle them better.

Finally, there is always the alternative that after having read this you'll sit back with a good feeling that you are in exactly the right job - and also recognizing the causes of your strengths and weaknesses even more clearly and how you can best use them. For this, it is vital that you know yourself as well as possible. In everyday life we don't take sufficient time to deal with our wishes, needs, abilities and preferences, our habitat in general. This coaching is intended for you to stop for a moment and define your position on the subject of profession. If you are satisfied with the chosen road, you will be able to continue traveling it with more confidence and knowledge about yourself. If you are in any way dissatisfied, then you will hopefully have gained a few ideas and food for thought, enabling you to make the necessary changes.

Last but not least, it is important to point to the fact that these 16 iPersonic personality models will not cover the entire individuality spectrum distinguishing us as people. They include tendencies, inclinations, preferences and that is how they must be perceived. Therefore, you should take away from this coaching everything that seems to be beneficial for you. Don't overrate the described analysis of your person, either. In essence, you are a unique personality - but only with reference to the Dreamy Idealist!
